Monuments are ephemeral installations, comparable to theatrical sets, used from the early 16th century until the 1950s in Catalonia, for the celebration of Holy Thursday.
Installed in churches on Holy Wednesday, these rolled or stretched canvases formed a perspective leading to the sacristy, where the consecrated host was displayed on Thursday.
The Monuments were the backdrop for a particular ritual and staging of Christ's death. They are both material works, painted decorations, but also witnesses to a particular cultural practice, on the bangs of the Church's official liturgy.”

The one in Dorres was restored at the Centre Départemental de Restauration et de Conservation du Patrimoine, (thanks to an agreement between the Département and the Commune). It was presented in the summer of 2016/2017 in Saint-Jean church, in its original place.
